All this rubbish has been collected TODAY from the Glade area of the Riverside Park. It’s hard to tell if it’s been brought into the park or chucked over the fence at the back. But we want to use this area to hold events like storytelling and the Lantern Parade and this is not the impression we want people to have of the park ! So if anyone knows who’s doing this please tell them to stop ! Thank you ......... ... See MoreSee Less
Hahaha what's in a name........
Don't know where the glade area is, but the people who use The Garden of Irwell are very pleased with this clean up :) www.facebook.com/groups/446173228824160/permalink/1735783793196424/

The fruits of our labour yesterday - the Beavers on Holme St are working towards their Community Badge and have been helping with our litterpicks.
This time we cleared the route from Farholme Lane through to the Riverside Park. We swept the glass round the Youth Shelter and tidied the path down to Shade End - now officially called Stone Road.
We did discuss whether we too should smash a bottle to see what fun that would be - but sanity prevailed and we just picked up all the bottles instead.
We all had fun and the Beavers agreed it’s such a pity that rubbish is left in the park. Let’s hope it’s a long time before we need to do it again ! ... See MoreSee Less
I’d love to be able to help out if you need it-do you have a regular meet up?
Well done! I recyled a crisp packet off four lane ends rubbish as a poo bag!
My little Beaver scouts were shocked and disgusted by some of the things they found.
Thankyou fine people x

Is that where the park used to be? Spent many happy hours there as a kid :)
Anyone who came to the Lantern Parade will know that this piece of land in the Riverside Park is really in need of drainage
Great news ! With the award of a grant from Rossendale Council’s Living Well Living Better Project we finally have enough money to do the work !
When it’s complete we’ll be setting up a little gardening group to keep it looking smart. If anyone’s interested in joining that please contact any member of the group ... See MoreSee Less
Very productive couple of hours with the Beavers who were working toward their Community Badge. All this came from round Farholme Lane and Branch St - the difference is amazing but it really shouldn’t be necessary to do this. And all the children agreed ! ... See MoreSee Less
