Lantern Parade Update

Creating lanterns, artist Andy Keir works with Caroline Eccles and Ann Dixon.

A SPECTACULAR procession of lanterns will be held in Stacksteads on Saturday October 28.

A series of workshops have been held to help people of all ages make and decorate their own lanterns for the procession. The Light Up The Valley parade will leaves Globe Studios at Toll Bar, Newchurch Road, Stacksteads, at 6pm. Stacksteads Countryside Park Group has organised the procession for three years and this year the event had been managed by the Horse and Bamboo Theatre. After the lanterns have been paraded from Toll Bar, along the riverside to The Glade, food and refreshments will be served.

Everyone is then invited to The Boo in Waterfoot for a celebration where the O’Gorman Brothers will be entertaining and the lanterns will be displayed.

Rawtenstall Market is also offering people who have made a lantern a second chance to parade them – at the switch on of Rawtenstall’s Christmas lights. A procession is planned from outside Boots along the length of Bank Street to the corner of Newchurch Road where the lights will be turned on around 5pm on Saturday November 18. For more information visit the Rawtenstall Market Facebook page.
